Privacy Policy
Zakatify is a zakat calculator and sadaqah jar. Your finances and your giving are personal, so this page explains plainly what the app stores, where it's kept, and who can see it.

In short
- You can use Zakatify without an account. Everything then stays on your device.
- If you sign in, your data is backed up to your account so it follows you to other phones.
- Your sadaqah entries are end-to-end encrypted. Only your devices can read them. We can't, and neither can anyone with access to our database.
- We don't sell your data, and we don't show ads.
Data kept on your device
Everything you enter is saved in your browser's storage on your phone: your assets, zakat years, payments you've logged, sadaqah entries, and settings such as language, nisab choice, metal rates and zakat date. If you don't sign in, this data never leaves your device (apart from the usage statistics described below).
Clearing your browser's data for zakatify.online, or uninstalling the app, deletes this copy.
If you sign in (optional)
Signing in with Google lets you back up and sync across devices. We then store:
- Your profile: your Google account email, name and profile picture link, plus your app settings.
- Your zakat records: the assets you enter for each year, the calculated zakat, and the zakat payments you log (amount, date, and the recipient and notes if you add them).
- Your sadaqah entries, encrypted. See below.
This data is stored with our database provider, Supabase. Access rules ensure your account can only ever read its own records. Your zakat records are not end-to-end encrypted: they are protected by those access rules and by encryption in transit and at rest, but as the operators of the service we could technically access them. We don't look at individual records except when needed to fix a problem you've reported.
Your sadaqah is private: end-to-end encrypted
Sadaqah is between you and Allah, so we built the app so that it stays that way.
- Before a sadaqah entry is backed up, it is encrypted on your device with a private key that is created on your device and never sent to us.
- What's stored on our servers is only unreadable ciphertext, a scrambled identifier, and a fingerprint of the key. The amount, purpose, recipient and date are all inside the encrypted part.
- To see your sadaqah on another phone, you copy your private key from Settings → Private sadaqah key and enter it there.
Because we never have your key, we can't recover it for you. If you clear your browser data on every device that holds it, your backed-up sadaqah entries can't be read by anyone, including you. Keep a copy of your key somewhere safe.
Usage statistics
- Google Analytics. We record anonymous usage events, such as which screen was opened or that a payment was logged, to understand how the app is used and improve it. We don't send your amounts, assets, names, recipients or notes to Google Analytics. Google may collect standard technical information like device type, approximate location from your IP address, and browser. See Google's privacy policy.
- Daily usage ping. Roughly once a day the app records a random device ID (generated on your device and not linked to your account or anything you type), the time, and whether the app is installed. This lets us count active devices even when analytics is blocked.
Optional features
- Notifications. If you turn on reminders, we store your browser's push subscription (an address your browser gives us for delivering notifications) together with the random device ID. You can turn notifications off at any time in your browser or phone settings.
- Local metal rates. If you tap “Use my location for local rates”, your device's coordinates are sent to BigDataCloud to find your city, which is then used to look up gold and silver rates. We don't store your coordinates. The city name is remembered on your device only.
- Support. If you contact us on WhatsApp, we see the messages you send and your phone number, and use them only to help you.
Who we share data with
We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't share it for advertising. We use these service providers to run the app, and they process data only on our behalf:
- Supabase: database and sign-in.
- Google: sign-in and analytics.
- Vercel: hosting the website and app.
- BigDataCloud: finding your city, only if you use that feature.
We may disclose information if required by law.
Deleting your data
- On your device: Settings → Erase all data deletes everything stored on that device.
- Delete your account: email support@zakatify.online from the address you signed in with, and we'll delete your account and everything stored with it within 30 days.
Children, changes and contact
Zakatify is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll also let you know in the app.
